Introduction

It seems like there are new Japanese AV Idol sites popping up left, right, and center (for those of you new to Jporn, “AV” stands for “Adult Video”).  AVLovers.com promises “The Finest Japanese Porn DVDs for Direct Download” with “400+ DVD Movies Added Every Week.”  Let’s have a look and see.

Content Quantity

The movies on this site are divided into three main categories: Uncensored, Censored, and Anime, with 350+ movies to download in each category.  In total, you get 1000+ Gigabytes of DVD content, so there should be enough content to last you for months. Also, if you’re looking for something a little different, the Anime movies are good fun, at least for a little while.

Navigation

It always amazes me how porn sites can offer thousands of videos, yet at the same time, frustrate members with a poor navigation system.  AV Lovers has done a good job avoiding this, at least to an extent.  The navigation is simple to use, but you only have the 3 categories to search!  AV Lovers has a great variety of niches including schoolgirls, anime, 18 year olds, nurses, office babes, and as you’d expect in a Japanese AV site, cute schoolgirls and explicit bukkake.  Unfortunately, with NO category search function (other than the three categories), you will need to browse by DVD cover.

Video Quality

To be fair, the DVDs look great with good playback quality (Windows Media), and the full screen playback option is better than average (640×480, 1500kbps). However, this is a download site only! And since most DVDs are full-length with NO option to stream, they can take a fair bit of time to download, even with a broadband connection.

Conclusion

Overall, AV Lovers is an average site. There’s nothing wrong with it per se, but other than the twisted Anime flicks, there’s also nothing special about it. The videos are NOT exclusive, and they do NOT add 400+ DVDs every week (like they promise). For $29.95/month, there are better pay sites to spend your money on.
